Five offline RPGs worth your storage space

Offline RPGs are a strange category. Many big-name mobile RPGs quietly require a connection for half their features, which defeats the purpose on a long trip. So we went looking for ones that genuinely work in airplane mode from start to finish.

Ember of Halden tops our list for its snappy combat and personal story. It's proof you don't need an online component to feel invested in a party of characters. The skill web system keeps every level-up interesting.

If you want something lighter, there are dungeon crawlers that fit in your pocket and save everything locally. We prefer the ones with clear turn order over the twitchy real-time stuff, since those tend to punish a laggy old phone.

A quick word of advice: check storage before downloading. Offline RPGs bundle everything into the install, so a good one can be a few hundred megabytes. Worth it, but plan ahead.
